Nicholas Parrett

Working in mixed media, I celebrate life and nature whilst at the same time remembering events from the past. I work in acrylics and oil on paper and canvas. I also experiment with photography, woodcutting, printmaking, etching , oil sticks, charcoal, pencil and screen printing on paper and canvas as well as cotton and silk.

Symbolism and metaphors are used to covey recurring themes such as nature, religion, architecture and conflict.

I am inspired by the work of William Kentridge, Gilbert and George, Wassily Kandinsky, Leon Kossof, Grayson Perry and Anselm Keifer. These artists have undoubtedly assisted my artistic development, pushing me towards abstraction.
