Extract is an on-going series that looks at the ways in which mankind shapes the natural world and how these changes become part of our modern-day landscapes. These photographs were taken in a part of Dubai unknown to the majority of tourists and show how capable mankind has become in extracting resources and altering the landscape to match our demands when providing for the masses. My experiences during the making of these photographs have given me a new perspective when considering not only mankind’s technological advancements but also the audacity we are capable of in order to change these uninhabitable places to suit our needs for further progression as populations and expectations continue to rise. The series also brings light to environmental concerns we have regarding how we consume natural resources and the sustainability of our actions in order to supply our ever growing demand.
