As a first-year student living in my accommodation, I share an experience with those around me.

For many of us, it is the first time living away from home. This comes with a new set of exhilarating freedoms, which are usually much more impactful to our new lifestyles than the responsibilities we acquire. Furthermore, we inhabit near-identical rooms, shared kitchens, and a communal outdoor space. For everyone living here, our life-paths have converged. Despite not all being close friends who will continue relationships into second-year, we become familiar with each other.

We have only a matter of months to immerse ourselves in this wealth of friends and acquaintances before we diverge again. Many of my peers feel that their time at university is moving too quickly, myself included. The transitory nature of the experience has only made it more precious.

This body of work was intended as a short, wordless, illustrated book, produced on cheap newsprint-like paper. I wanted to document and celebrate my time spent in first-year university accommodation, which has formed a significant part of my life.
